Student Information Center Visible Analyst/Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) and Modeling Tools |
Welcome to the Student Information and Support Center for Visible Analyst/Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) and Modeling Tools. Here you will find all
the information necessary to build your data, process and object models using Visible Analyst. If you have any
questions during the modeling process, please contact our support team.
The first step is to download the Visible Analyst. Upon downloading the program, you will be able to install it
using the key code provided to you.
Once you install the product, restore the Tutorial project. All of the models are completed, including links
between the models. Here are the steps to follow in order to restore the project:
- Click here to download the Visible Analyst project DMV zip file.
- Unzip the file to a temporary folder on the PC, C:\Temp for example.
- Start the Visible Analyst and choose the Tools | Restore menu item.
- On the first restore dialog, enter the name of the project into the Name field and click OK. It is not
necessary to modify either of the path's displayed at the top of the dialog box.
- At the second dialog, click the Browse button to point to the folder where you unzipped the files,
C:\Temp in this example, and click OK. The project will be restored to the Visible Analyst.
- Select the File | Open Diagram menu item to display a list of the diagram types. Click the + icon next to
a diagram type to view the diagrams. Double click on a diagram to open the diagram.
While in the project, take special note of the Planning Statements, Business Process Model and the
interrelationships between models. These interrelationships link model objects to the models that implement
the object. For example, right mouse click on the use case "Issue License" and choose the Explode option. This
use case has been linked to the Collaboration model "Issue License". Similarly, the use case
"Conduct Driver Test" has been linked to the activity model "Driver's License Testing - Activity Diagram". The
entity "Drivers License" has been linked to an Entity History Diagram.
Please review an overview of the student edition video clip to get a good idea of the type of models you will
be building with the Visible Analyst. Now that you have reviewed the overview of what type of models can be
built with the Visible Analyst, the next step is to look at one or more of the modeling areas that you will
want to understand better in a little more detail.
The final step is to download the Tutorial Guide
that is available as an eBook.
